St Omer Road

The design encompassed both the front and back gardens. One of the key aims for the front garden was to ensure that the front door, which was positioned at the side of the house, became the obvious point of entry. To achieve this the area around the front door was enlarged so that it became more welcoming and the path was relaid to follow the natural desire line to the front door. Wrought iron railings with a matching gate were installed to make the back garden more secure and engender a feeling of enclosure.

The terrace was enlarged and repositioned nearer the house to create a more secure, sunny  and welcoming area. A new pond was constructed with stepping stones through deeply planted borders to provide an interesting flow through the garden.

An area of grass towards the back of the garden was left to grow longer to attract wildlife.

Client testimonial: "Being relative novices to gardening, we were struggling to come to terms with our garden that had become overgrown, and was lacking inspiration. We invited Caroline to visit us and suggest a few enhancements. We had not realised until Caroline came around how old and tired many of the plants had become, and we realised that we needed more than a few tweaks. We wanted to retain some of the original features and to ensure that our garden continued to support wildlife and Caroline was very sensitive to this fact. However, she still pushed some of her design ideas which although we resisted at the time, have proved to be absolutely fundamental to the success of the garden design. Caroline's process is very supportive and structured, and she not only has a good eye for design but also her horticultural knowledge is outstanding. The fact that all the quotations obtained were from contractors or nurseries Caroline has worked with in the past gave us extra peace of mind. We look forward to the coming seasons and witnessing the plants in their glory."
